Here’s the weekend weather forecast as the UK is set to bask in bright sunshine with temperatures reaching 26C

The weather in the UK this weekend will be warm and bright in most areas, with temperatures rising to 26C in some parts as the country enjoys wall-to-wall sunshine.

Here’s the current weather forecast for the UK this weekend - and what we can expect for the start of June.

Friday (29 May)

Generally, it will be another, warm and largely sunny day for most of the UK, with a low risk of a few showers during the afternoon across parts of Scotland.

In Yorkshire, Friday is set to see a mixture of sunny intervals and bright sunshine in most areas, with the temperature becoming warm.

The Met Office forecast for Yorkshire and the North East said: “A similar day to Thursday with spells of strong sunshine. It may be cloudier for a time in the morning. Turning warm by afternoon but cooler towards some coasts. Maximum temperature 25C.”

In the North West, another warm and dry day is forecast with sunshine through the morning. The afternoon will see skies clouding over, but still with plenty of sunny spells breaking through. Some parts of the region will see highs of 26C.

This dry and warm weather will continue over the next few days with lengthy periods of sunshine, but it will be a little cloudier at times on Sunday.

In London & South East England, there will be long spells of strong sunshine, after a rather cool start inland. It will turn warm by the afternoon, with highs of 24C.

It will continue to be dry and warm throughout the weekend, but it will be cooler near some coasts with brisk winds likely to continue.

Scotland is set to see bright, unbroken sunshine throughout the morning in most parts, reaching highs of around 19C by lunchtime.

Northern Ireland will be dry and bright with sunny spells. It will feel very warm in the west, but cooler towards the Irish Sea coast with southeasterly winds, and a peak temperature of 24C.

It will stay dry and warm or very warm with good spells of sunshine over the weekend, but cooler around the Irish Sea coast with onshore winds.

Wales will see another dry and warm day with sunshine through the morning, with the afternoon seeing skies clouding over slightly, mainly in the north and east. There will be a peak temperature of around 25C.

This dry and warm weather will continue over the next few days with lengthy periods of sunshine, although it will be cloudier at times on Sunday.

Saturday (30 May)

Saturday in Yorkshire is forecast to see bright skies throughout the day in most parts of the region. It will remain warm with highs of 20C throughout the day.

The Met Office outlook for Saturday to Monday for Yorkshire and the North East said: “Dry and warm through the outlook period with strong sunshine. Cooler near some coasts with an onshore breeze at times.”
